St. Louis Consumers Learn How to Improve Their Credit Scores

ST. LOUIS -- Approximately 135 St. Louis-area credit union members are better informed consumers because they invested two hours of their time to attend a free seminar on credit scores and how to improve those scores. The St. Louis Chapter of Credit Unions sponsored the free seminar last month that was open to the public.

Suzanne Zemelman Gellman, consumer economics specialist from the University of Missouri Extension covered how your credit score can impact your life, how to get a free annual credit report, how to read and correct errors on your credit report and steps you can take to improve your credit score.

"Credit is such an important component of our financial life. It is important for people to understand how their credit affects more than just their ability to get a loan" explained Gellman. "People need to know what hurts their credit and how to build and maintain good credit."
