During meetings with Minnesota's two senators and eight House members or their staff, they discussed the importance of regulatory relief and their opposition to legislation that would allow a panel of judges to set the interchange fee merchant banks pay issuing credit unions for processing transactions.
"In our meetings we were able to share credit union stories, which gave our issues names and faces," Mara Humphrey of the Minnesota Credit Union Network, which sponsored the event.
The credit union employees and volunteers also expressed their concerns about the NCUA Outreach Task Force recommendations to Johnson, particularly regarding the disclosure of executive compensation. The NCUA Board has not taken action at this point on that portion of the task force's report.
