Two Florida CUs Opt for TNB

DALLAS -- Two credit unions in Florida have opted to process their card transactions with TNB Card Services, the card management arm of credit union owned Town North Bank.

Florida Transportation Credit Union and Broward Healthcare Federal Credit Union, both of Fort Lauderdale, made the switch, TNB said. The credit unions, which work together in several areas, are jointly taking advantage of TNB's portfolio consulting services and plan to share other card-related functions in order to maximize their resources.

"We needed a processor that could give us more functionality, better pricing, flexibility, and promotions," said Florida Transportation CU CEO Scott Meyer. "We had some real concerns about our former provider, due to some security breaches and service issues."

Broward Healthcare FCU said unhappiness with their previous processor drove them to look for a replacement.

"One thing we plan to do with TNB is rewards, which we had hoped to do with our previous processor, but it didn't work out," explained CEO Dan Walker. He added that Broward Healthcare FCU will also expand its marketing, leveraging TNB's strength in that area.

"Before we committed to TNB, we talked to a number of credit unions about them. Those credit unions had great things to say about their service, their processing system, and their account executives," Walker said. "We want our plastic to be top of wallet. We want to add benefits that make the card more valuable to our members. That's why we are converting to TNB, for the marketing support we need to make that happen."

The 50-year-old Broward Healthcare FCU serves healthcare professionals in Broward County through a total of five offices, and currently boasts 7,500 members and $30 million in assets. Florida Transportation CU, with 6,400 members, serves current or retired state department of transportation employees and contractors. The 46-year-old credit union has three branches and $44 million in assets.
