Tulsa Rain Nixes Golf, But Pours on Charity

TULSA, Okla. -- Children's' Miracle Network benefited big time from Mother Nature at the Oklahoma Credit Union League annual charity golf tournament.

"It was a complete washout, but we all donated our golf registration fees to CMN," said Fort Sill FCU President/CEO Denise Floyd, one of the contributing golfers who sat out the morning after heavy rains canceled the May 8 golf tournament, an annual rite at the league's meeting.

Though final numbers were not yet available, "it will be a record sum," forecast Debra J. Morrow Ingram, the league's interim CEO.

Meanwhile, Floyd herself was the winner of the Troy Higgins political activist of the year award, presented by the league's political action committee for her efforts to reach out to Oklahoma lawmakers.

"She has done a terrific job in contacting every lawmaker in her district, inviting them to her annual meeting, meeting with them at chamber

events and thereby helping us on critical issues," said Ingram.
