MECU Giving Gets Noticed

BALTIMORE -- MECU of Baltimore has been named one of the most generous corporate givers in Baltimore by The Baltimore Business Journal.

Rankings were based on total giving as percentage of company revenue.

With its 2007 giving representing 5.4% of its revenue, MECU of Baltimore ranked fourth.

"What made it possible for MECU to achieve this ranking was the generous spirit of the MECU employees," said MECU President/CEO Bert J. Hash Jr. "They contributed over 3,200 hours of time last year to many of the worthy nonprofit organizations in Baltimore. It is the value of their contribution that made it possible for MECU to attain this standing."

Hash credits MECU's Outreach Committee for developing many of the long-term relationships the credit union has with area nonprofits. A few of the places where MECU volunteers regularly include: Our Daily Bread, Sandtown Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.
