CU Scholarships Flow to Six Detroit Area Students

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Six students from the greater Detroit area have received scholarships from an area credit union. This is the 14th year that the $291 million Co-op Services Credit Union has made scholarships available to area high school seniors.

"Over the years, our scholarship program has provided students with resources to succeed. These students have all maintained demanding extra curricular schedules while achieving academic excellence," said Lisa Fawcett, marketing director of Co-op Services Credit Union. "These scholarships really support the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people'."

The students and their families were given special recognition at the credit union's annual meeting in March.

The $4,000 renewable Al Williams and Harlan Richard Scholarships were awarded to Dearborn resident Christopher Majsak and Lincoln Park resident Emily Bozek, both seniors at Divine Child High School in Dearborn. Winners of the $1,000 were Mark Stroebel and Margaret Kremer-Hehman. Scholarships were awarded to Rebekah Pummill of Garden City High School and Lindsay Branton of Stevenson High School in Livonia. Jack Kennedy of Walled Lake High School and Nikole Najorka of Stevenson High School received the $500 William Allen and James Cullimore Scholarships.
