ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Seven international financial services professionals visited the Minnesota Credit Union Network on March 27 as part of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.
The group discussed the difference between cooperative financial institutions and for-profit financial institutions in the United States, as well as credit unions community programs. The discussion was highly interactive, with program participants asking a variety of questions ranging from auditing and compliance to financial education.
Participants were from Bosnia, Costa Rica, South Africa, Taiwan, Tanzania, Turkey and Zimbabwe. This is the third year MnCUN has taken part in an Leadership Program visit.
"It was an honor to meet with these professional representatives from all over the world," said Mark D. Cummins, MnCUN president/ EO. "I was impressed by their inquisitive nature and their desire to learn about credit unions. It was a privilege to hear about the financial institutions in their home countries and to aid in their understanding of the credit union movement in the United States."
