US Federal CU Recognizes HEROs of Volunteerism

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Within the walls of US Federal Credit Union lurks a few HEROs.

USFCU recently implemented the HERO (Honoring Employees Reaching Out) program as a way to recognize staffers for their volunteerism in the surrounding Twin Cities community.

The HERO recognition program honors employees who give back when they volunteer a minimum of 20 hours within the calendar year to an organization located within one of the credit union's fields of membership.

Collectively, seven USFCU employees achieved HERO status based on the number of hours they volunteered in 2007.

Staffers spent their time giving back to such organizations as Feed My Starving Children, Shorewood Planning Commission and Paint-A-Thon and Meals on Wheels to volunteering their services through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly.

"The HERO program is a great way to encourage all employees to put our beliefs in action by helping those who are less fortunate in our neighboring communities," said USFCU Bloomington Branch Manager Bridget Kope. "I believe the HERO program is a wonderful compliment to our menu of recognition programs at USFCU."

In acknowledgment of the generous efforts made, all HERO participants were invited to join the credit union's President/CEO, Bill Raker, for a recognition lunch. In addition, USFCU made monetary donations to qualifying organizations of the three highest HERO earning employees' choices.
