MidSouth Federal Credit Union, Macon, Ga., made a sponsorship donation to the Houston-Middle Georgia Red Cross. A 2008 Heroes of Middle Georgia celebration was held by the Houston-Middle Georgia Red Cross on March 6th. The program recognizes people who have displayed outstanding performance in an emergency or public service role.

Energy Federal Credit Union, Rockville, Md., implemented a Skip-A-Payment Program that allowed loan payers to provide a $25 enrollment fee in lieu of their monthly loan payments. One hundred percent of the fees collected were donated to the Children's Miracle Network. The total amount collected was $4,450. The donation will go to the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Western Division Federal Credit Union, Williamsville, N.Y., teamed up with Upstate New York Transplant Services to hold a community blood drive at Western Division FCUs Williamsville branch. This is the second blood drive held at Western Division this year and Western Division FCU plans on holding drives in May, June, August, October, and December.

Pacific Service Credit Union, Walnut Creek, Calif., donated $3,200 to the Halleck Creek Institute. The donated funds will be used to purchase specialized horse riding equipment to accommodate the organization's growing number of disabled children.

Hershey Federal Credit Union, Hershey, Pa., will be sponsoring a golf tournament on June 13, 2008 at Deer Valley Golf Course in Hummelstown to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. The $80 per golfer fee includes green fees, cart, lunch and dinner. The tournament is the fourth annual golf event sponsored with HFCU and is part of the "HFCU Cares" program that was established in 2002 by HFCU employees. Last years tournament helped raise $6,000 for the Phoenix Youth Center in Palmyra.

Catholic Federal Credit Union, Saginaw, Mich., was a sponsor for a Polar Walk that raised funds for medical bills for a family that lost their son to cancer. The credit union set up a rest stop for walkers and offered them Gatorade, a snack, and chap stick. Over $11,000 was raised at the walk.

Altura Credit Union, Riverside, Calif., provided $1,200 in prizes and $1,300 in sponsorship funds for the local competition of the National PTA Reflections Program. The program recognizes student achievement in the arts. The program offers students in preschool through grade 12 the opportunity to create art for fun and recognition. The theme for this years program was "I can make a difference by..." This is the first year Altura has sponsored the program.

Credit Union ONE, Ferndale, Mich., participated in the 18th Annual Walk for Warmth held in Macomb and Oakland counties. With over 50 credit union representatives walkers collected pledges and Credit Union ONE donated on behalf of each employee that walked. The Walk for Warmth is an annual event that raises funds and promotes awareness of the emergency needs of low-income people. All the funds raised in the walk in Macomb and Oakland benefited those in the counties that face heat-related emergencies during the winter in Michigan.
