CEFCU Removing Obstacles to Member Savings

PEORIA, Ill. -- CEFCU is encouraging members to save by reducing the amount needed to open a savings account from $25 to $5.

According to the credit union the move makes having a savings account, and convenient CEFCU products and services, even more accessible.

"Credit unions are about people, not profit. That's one reason why CEFCU has made financial literacy a priority. In keeping with that philosophy, we know that by reducing the minimum share requirement, saving for the future is easier," said CEFCU President/CEO Mark Spenny. "CEFCU welcomes young adults and families who can now establish a savings account, quite possibly for the first time, and help themselves be prepared for life's unforeseen emergencies."

With assets totaling over $3.4 billion, CEFCU serves over 228,000 members.
