CURIA Continues to Gain Momentum

WASHINGTON -- The Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) is not just on the mind of a few assorted members of Congress.

Congressman Brad Ellsworth, (D-Ind.) has become the 143rd co-sponsor of the legislation.

Introduced by Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.), the legislation will provide much needed regulatory enhancements for credit unions including increased member business lending, risk-based capital, expanded service to underserved areas, increased voter participation requirements in conversions to mutual savings banks, and other revisions.

Ellsworth was not available for comment at deadline.

CURIA has been an example of truly bi-partisan legislation with members on both sides of the aisle endorsing the legislation.
