SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Members Business Services, LLC has hired W.E. Scott Burger as its new president/CEO.
MBS provides business banking lending and deposit services for credit unions nationwide and is owned by Arrowhead Credit Union, SCE FCU, CoastHills FCU, California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues, and USA FCU. MBS has been in operation since 2003 and serves 18 credit unions.
Burger is filling the president/CEO position, which has been vacant for some time, according to Arrowhead CU.
Burger has more than 26 years of lending and management experience in commercial banking and previously held the position of executive vice president/business banking administrator with $2.1 billion Community Bank. In that post, he was responsible for the strategic planning and leadership of the commercial banking group, product and development group, cash management group, Small Business Administration department, and marketing department.
"The current economic environment is very challenging for the industry as a whole, liquidity is an issue for most and the lack of loan growth and deterioration in loan quality for all is a concern," Burger said. "Fortunately for MBS, the opportunities to expand loans and deposits within the business segment for the credit union industry (are) strong because credit unions have two significant advantages to offer their members over the banking industry. The first is a member service advantage and the second is a pricing advantage."
Burger said "Even in this tough economic time our industry will be able to grow in the business segment to help offset some of the declines currently being experienced by most financial institutions."
