Super Bowl CMN Auction Raises $15,000

PHOENIX -- Thanks to a Super Bowl promotion by the $1.1 billion Arizona State Credit Union, Children's Miracle Network is $15,000 richer.

That's how much was raised in an online and radio auction of two tickets and a VIP package to the Feb. 3 football game over a Phoenix radio station.

The donations from the public were generated in a pre-game marketing promotion which not only helped CMN but also the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. An unidentified Phoenix man was the winner of the donated Arizona State tickets to the big game held at the suburban Glendale arena and won by the champion New York Giants.

More than 40 bids were submitted in the radio auction, said Arizona State, noting some of the offers came from other CUs. Funds from the auction are being donated to the "1 Darn Cool School" program at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Apart from the CMN activity and despite the New England Patriots loss, the $3.7 billion Digital FCU of Marlborough, Mass served up ads on Boston stations plugging CU products and services.

Digital, which said it has always been a die-hard Patriots fan, had planned to air two 60-second spots on a local Fox affiliate as well as one appearing on a pre-game FM show. Digital's plan was to plug both auto loan refinancing and home equity products to watchers of the highly rated TV game broadcast.
