Pennsylvania League to Bring Business Service Staffers Together

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A new professional group for credit union employees serving the member business services market is the brainchild of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association.

The Business Services Professionals Group will provide networking, learning, and information sharing opportunities for any professional involved in member business services. Membership in the group is open to business services professionals from any credit union with league membership in the Mid-Atlantic region, regardless of asset size or current offering of business services. Members of the group will play an active role in determining topics, frequency, and location of future meetings, according to PCUA.

Based on the results of a recent survey conducted among credit unions offering member business services, the topic "MBL Participation Basics" will be the focus of the group's first meeting on March 27 at PCUA's office in Harrisburg.

The session will provide attendees with an overview of buying and selling member business loan participations, including a panel discussion on best practices and ideas on improving the efficiency of sales while keeping safety and soundness at the core.

There is no cost to join the group but a meeting fee of $99 will help defray the costs of meals, paid speakers, and faculties, PCUA said.

Administration for the group is provided by the Molly Snody, director of PCUA's Business Advisory Services.

"Networking within the group can provide a low cost way for small and mid-size credit unions currently providing business services to obtain training and knowledge they may not be able to obtain elsewhere," Snody said. "It can also provide an avenue for those ex-bankers to better connect with their peers and make an easier transition into the credit union culture."

For information on joining the group, contact Snody at 800-932-0661, ext. 5209, or e-mail molly.snody@pcua.coop.
