NJ Senate Judiciary Committee Nominates Gibardi to CU Advisory Council

LATHAM, N.Y. -- The New Jersey State Legislature's Senate Judiciary Committee has nominated Entertainment Industries Federal Credit Union President/CEO John C. Gibardi to its Credit Union Advisory Council.

Gibardi, a New Jersey native, will serve on the committee, which advises and makes recommendations to the Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance on matters pertaining to the chartering, operation and supervision of all New Jersey credit unions.

Governor Jon Corzine nominated Gibardi to the position with senatorial courtesy. He was confirmed by the Judiciary Committee and then by the full Senate.

"It's an honor to join this prestigious committee," said Gibardi. "I look forward to bringing a unique view to the table as the CEO of a federally chartered credit union and a member of a state-chartered one. The mix, I am confident, will benefit all New Jersey credit unions because as a movement we are one."

Gibardi has been actively involved in the credit union movement since 1977 and has held several leadership positions in the credit union community such as chairman of the New York State Credit Union League, board of directors from 2003-2005, and Metropolitan chapter president. Gibardi currently serves as a league board member.

He has also given his time on the boards of directors of Empire Corporate Federal Credit Union, now Members United Corporate Federal Credit Union, CUC Services, Inc., and the New York Credit Union Foundation. Through the years, Gibardi has also filled the roles of chairman of the league's budget and finance, convention and governance committees.
