Community First Breaking "Green" Ground In Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- When it comes to living green, Community First Credit Union is hoping to lead by example by breaking ground on the city's first green-certified branch.

According to design/build firm TTV Architects, the credit union's 4,455 square-foot Beach Boulevard branch will be the first green financial institution building project in the area certified to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards.

The green facility is just part of Community First CU's environmental commitment as a responsible corporate citizen. In early fall of 2007, the credit union encouraged members to go green by offering discounts for hybrid vehicle loans and new or existing homes built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards with a Home Energy Rating Standard index of at least 85.
