Symitar Mobile Service Beta Rollout Includes N.C. Credit Union

CANTON, N.C. -- A small credit union serving a community nestled into the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville is one of three CUs nationwide beta testing Symitar's mobile banking entry beginning this month.

Champion Credit Union hopes to show with Symitar's "goDough" mobile service that it can provide the same level of service to its 15,000 or so members as the big banks, including North Carolina-based Wachovia and Bank of America.

"We thought it was time we could do the same and attract those Gen Yers," said Jeremy Cook, marketing director at $110 million Champion CU.

A spokeswoman at Jack Henry & Associates in Monett, Mo., declined to identify the other two credit unions but says the service is expected to be offered to the entire customer base in March.

Carol Cassil with Jack Henry says the browser-based "goDough" service is core processor-, device- and mobile-carrier independent and uses authentication technology from RSA Security.

"The pricing structure is a very reasonable flat rate for a license fee, a small charge for installation and a very minimum per month flat fee the first year. The second year we'll charge a small flat fee per month plus a small per user fee," Cassil said.
