President Announces Intent to Nominate Fryzel to Replace Johnson as NCUA Chairman

WASHINGTON--The White House announced today its intent to nominate Michael E. Fryzel to the NCUA Board, and upon Senate confirmation, as the next NCUA chairman.

Fryzel would replace current NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson whose term expired in August. Fryzel's nomination is for a full six-year term ending Aug. 2, 2013.

Fryzel is currently an attorney in Chicago and serves on the Illinois Governor's Board of Credit Union Advisors. Prior to this he served as director of the Department of financial Institutions in Illinois.

"The opportunity to serve the President as a member and Chairman of the NCUA Board over the past six years has been an honor in every sense of the word," Johnson said. She added, "I wish Mr. Fryzel all the best as he prepares to lead the NCUA, and look forward to continuing in my capacity as Chairman during this interim period."
