Industry Leaders, Michigan First Offer Insight on Surviving Economic Woes

LATHRUP VILLAGE, Mich. -- With a number of auto industry losses and the constant threat of strikes, Michigan is feeling the impact.

Experts across the state will gather Oct. 15 to offer suggestions to residents on weathering the state's economic storm. The Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a panel session titled "Surviving in the Present Michigan Economy," which will take place at the Westin Hotel-Southfield. Among the guest speakers are Michael Poulos, president/CEO of $475 million Michigan First Credit Union.

Others on the panel will include Jonathan Liebman, president of Specs Howard School of Broadcasting; Alan McCord, executive director of Lawrence Technological University Online Services; Robert Hoban, senior vice president of strategy at St. John Health System; and Joe Berwanger, vice president and general manager of Comcast Spotlight Michigan.

According to the chamber, Michigan First and the four companies were chosen because they "are considered successful in today's economy" and will share what challenges they've faced.
