Baxter Credit Union Wins Roy F. Bergengren Award for High Achievement

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Baxter Credit Union is the 2007 recipient of CUNA Mutual Group's Roy F. Bergengren Award for High Achievement.

The award was presented to the $1.2 billion credit union during a luncheon at CUNA Mutual's 2007 Discovery Conference here. The Bergengren award recognizes commitment to the self-help ideals and philosophy espoused by credit union pioneer Roy F. Bergengren, according to CUNA Mutual.

"It is indeed an honor to be recognized by CUNA Mutual as a credit union that has in some way served as a model for the movement and for fellow credit unions," said Michael G. Valentine, president/CEO of BCU.

A $5,000 check, which accompanies the award, will go to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation on behalf of Baxter.

"It's well recognized that BCU, under Mike Valentine's leadership, is a shining example of a credit union committed to serving members and the communities in which it does business and to offering a dynamic and engaging work environment for its employees," said Jeff Post, president/CEO of CUNA Mutual. "BCU places significant emphasis on the value of its employees and that has resulted in record growth for the credit union."

Founded in 1981, BCU serves 126,000 members.
