Credit Union Community Shows Hokie Spirit

CHANTILLY and SALEM, Va. -- Freedom First Federal Credit Union and the credit union community have donated $111,328 to the Freedom First FCU Virginia Tech Memorial Fund.

The fund was established to support the recovery process following the tragic events at Viriginia Tech. More than 75 credit unions and credit union support organizations contributed to the fund.

In a similar attempt to aid the college, Justice Federal Credit Union, which serves the justice and law enforcement population, recently donated $1,100 to the Virginia Tech Foundation.

To render support for the cause, the credit union matched dollar for dollar its members' donations over a one-month period. The money was to go to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, a fund established by Virginia Tech to remember and honor the victims of the catastrophic events of April 16, 2007.

Both credit unions thank all those who contributed to this tragic cause.
