Workers' Hires Former Banker to Head New Business Development Team

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Credit unions that aren't growing are in danger of disappearing.

Workers' Credit Union recently created the position of "Senior Vice President, Community and Governmental Affairs and Commercial Business Development" and added a new business development team to keep its growth on track.

The over $555 million CU hired Dave W. Rodgers, who previously served for the past 11 years as senior vice president of Fitchburg Savings Bank managing community relations, facilities and business development activities. Prior to that he served as senior vice president of asset evaluation for the former Safety Fund Bank for six years.

In the newly created position, Rodgers will oversee community and government relations and will work closely with the new business development team.

"Dave will be an incredible asset to Workers'. He is well known and respected not only as a banker but as a community leader," commented Fredrick D. Healey, president/CEO of Workers'.

Rodgers has been active in the town of Lunenburg for many years; he serves as chairman of the Lunenburg Water District, served as selectman and on the planning and health boards. He has also been active in numerous other organizations within the community, including United Way of North Central Massachusetts, North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce and the former Deaconess-Nashoba Hospital in Ayer. He graduated from Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.
