SSFCU Helps Out Eagle Pass Tornado Victims

SAN ANTONIO -- Security Service Federal Credit Union Uvalde Service Center Manager Julie Balboa strikes a pose with Southwest Texas Junior College volunteers, Jimmy Allen (left) and Wade Carpenter, who helped organize a successful relief drive to benefit the over 500 displaced victims of a recent Eagle Pass tornado.

When SSFCU officials heard of the devastating tornado, which claimed nine lives and left hundreds more injured and homeless, they immediately offered their Uvalde branch as a collection center for donated items. With the help of the local Uvalde radio station KUVA, and the American Red Cross, residents of Uvalde and surrounding cities were encouraged to drop off canned food, water, blankets, clothes and other items to the SSFCU branch, which were then delivered directly to the victims and their families.
