ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Alaska USA Federal Credit Union's wholly owned subsidiary Alaska USA Insurance Brokers is sponsoring "The Last Great Race on Earth"--the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. "There are many complexities when it comes to organizing an event as large as the Iditarod," said Alaska USA Insurance Brokers President Randy Pugh. "Behind-the-scenes logistics include making sure that volunteers are insured. Our role is to provide the necessary coverage so that race organizers can concentrate on other tasks with peace of mind." Being a part of the 35-year race tradition is nothing new for the agency since it arranges insurance for Iditarod operations throughout the year, including coverage for a fleet of 25 volunteer aircraft and the 2,000 volunteers who work the course. According to Pugh, sponsoring a race, which brings excitement, educational opportunities, and a competitive spirit to Alaskans and spectators around the world, only further reinforces Alaska USA Insurance Brokers' commitment to being a true community partner.
