National NCUA-NASCUS Meeting Scheduled for March 2007

ARLINGTON, Va. -- NCUA and NASCUS have scheduled a national meeting between the federal and state credit union regulators for March 25-27, 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The meeting, said NASCUS, serves as a forum for the federal credit union regulator and state CU regulators to meet and discuss issues, trends and common regulatory challenges.

Breakout sessions will also be scheduled to give each NCUA regional director the opportunity to meet with the state regulators in their particular region.

NASCUS Chair Linda Jekel, director of the Washington Division of Credit Unions said "the joint National Meeting provides an important opportunity for all state and federal regulators to exchange information on regulatory concerns facing credit unions on a national scale."

NCUA Board member Gigi Hyland, who serves as the NCUA Board liaison to NASCUS, said, "The National Meeting is an example of federal and state regulators maintaining open lines of communication and dialogue on issues facing the credit union system."
