Camino FCU's 0% Loan a Hit With Teachers

MONTEBELO, Calif. -- Camino Federal Credit Union's zero interest loan is helping teachers stock up on their supplies. Montebello High School teacher Carmen Patlan is the first recipient of the credit union's latest loan offering--the 0% School Supply Loan. Created to help teachers supplement their regular classroom budget, the loan allows educators to borrow up to $500 at no interest and make monthly payments throughout the year. Patlan, who teaches at Montebello High School, is currently on special assignment for the district. She plans to use the loan to provide supplies for the teachers' planning sessions she will conduct throughout the year. Patlan says the loan was just what she needed to get going. "We envision this loan being used for a variety of purposes," says Robert Chaffino, Camino FCU president/CEO. "Extra art supplies, attending a training seminar, field trips, anything the teacher feels will enrich the students' learning experience." With ads designed in conjunction with Anaheim, Calif.-based credit union marketing firm Aubrey & Associates, the 0% School Supply Loan was introduced in Contact, the school district's newsletter, lobby displays, fliers, and the credit union's newsletter. Formerly called Montebello Schools Federal Credit Union, Camino Federal Credit Union has served the Montebello Unified School District since 1941.
