PORTLAND, Ore. -- Point West Credit Union recently served as an event sponsor of the second annual Latino Home Initiative Abriendo Puertas or "Unlocking the Doors to Your Dreams" Homebuyer Fair at Portland Community College.
The free fair provided Latino families with reliable and beneficial information to help them in the home buying process. Point West Business Development Officer Ximena Quiroz, served on the planning committee for the event and taught three of the seminars held throughout the day.
Point West CU also sponsored one of the $5,000 down payment grants to be awarded to an event participant. Thirty candidates for the grants were selected from the 200 plus Latino adults who attended the all day event, via a raffle. The candidates have an opportunity to win down payment grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 when they purchase a new home.
LHI's mission is to close the homeownership gap for Latinos through education, advocacy, and grants.
