SAN DIMAS, Calif. - Andy Hunter, president/CEO of Patelco Credit Union in San Francisco, has been named the 2006 Callahan Award winner by Financial Service Centers Cooperative Inc. Hunter received the honor during FSCC's annual meeting in Las Vegas June 21. (See related coverage on page 18.) The Callahan award is given annually to an individual whose dedication to FSCC "has helped expand the reach of shared branching," said FSCC. The award is named for Edgar Callahan, a past chairman of FSCC, a strong advocate for shared branching and former CEO of Patelco, as well as a former member of the NCUA Board. In remarks to shareholders and guests, FSCC Chairman Steve Dahlstrom said, "Andy has worked tirelessly despite demanding responsibilities at his own credit union, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions to shared branching." Hunter began his career at Patelco as chief financial officer, later promoted to executive vice president and moving up to president/COO. After Callahan retired in October 2002, Hunter stepped up to the CEO position in January 2003.
