VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - For its first year of competing with the largest credit unions in the country, Chartway Federal Credit Union has made an impressive debut by winning six marketing awards in the 2006 Diamond Awards Competition presented by CUNA. Chartway received top honors in the categories of Business/SEG Development - it was the only winner named in this category - and Direct Mail Postcard for its efforts in launching four new Texas locations. Chartway also was cited in the following categories: Logos - For its We Promise Foundation, a nonprofit organization that is the beneficiary of all Chartway charitable donations * Outdoor - For its checking billboard ("It's never too soon to see Cancun") * Community/PR Single Event - For its shopping spree in Rhode Island, in which 91-year-old Ethel Cort raced through the aisles and stuffed nearly $700 worth of goods in her cart * Segmented Marketing - For its student checking promotion that featured the tagline "It's never too soon to see Cancun"
