FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The nearly 4,000 members of Reliable FCU are now members of MidWest America FCU. The $10 million RFCU merged with MidWest America last month. The CU serves over 69,700 members and has almost $350 million in assets. Reliable FCU was chartered in 1951 as the Phelps Dodge Employees FCU. It had 12 employees at its two branches both of which will be converted to MidWest America offices in early July following a computer systems conversion. MidWest America FCU was chartered in 1936 as General Electric Employees FCU. It changed its name in 1987 to reflect its broader field of membership. With Reliable's two additional branches, MidWest America now operates 17 branches including 12 in Indiana, three in Illinois and two in Kentucky.
