WASHINGTON - Minnesota credit unions upheld their reputation of being strong fundraisers at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference held Feb. 26-March 1. Sixty-three Minnesotans joined the Minnesota Credit Union Network's Capital Club, contributing $13,350 to CULAC. In total, $56,560 was raised at the GAC for CULAC, the CU political action committee that supports credit union-friendly candidates running for federal office. The goal of the Capital Club is to help state and federal elected officials understand and support the credit union difference. Capital Club allows CU professionals and volunteers to maximize the impact of their financial contributions by pooling funds. Patrick Pierce, Minnesota's CULAC trustee and president/CEO of City & County CU said even though Minnesota doesn't have the highest number of attendees at the GAC - a record number of 105 Minnesota CU professionals and volunteers attended the GAC - "we continue to outpace the next three or four states combined. We make participation fun and recognize contributors throughout the year."
