TULSA, Okla. - Nearly half of Oklahoma's state legislators including Gov. Brad Henry showed their support of credit unions at the Oklahoma Credit Union League's 2006 annual governmental affairs conference. The two-day event from Feb. 13-14 was attended by 250 credit union professionals. In his address to conferees, Gov. Henry reviewed his accomplishments during his first four years in office and some of his visions for the future of Oklahoma. He also spoke about the important role credit unions play in the state's economy. The message from all the state legislators who spoke was the surplus in the state's budget and the opportunities credit unions have to make lasting and effective changes in many areas affecting Oklahoma. League President Lisa Finley said she hoped the League could continue its momentum by building lasting relationships with legislators "where we can continue to truly affect the political process here in our state."
