In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the New Jersey Credit Union League reached out to NJFCU and other New Jersey credit unions to help assist those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. NJFCU staff and members made donations. "This is a tragedy that has touched all Americans. We wanted to involve our members and the community, while embracing the `People Helping People' credit union philosophy," said Alves-Schemetow.
