William Neutzie, Credit Union Activist, Dies

COLUMBUS, Ohio - William Neutzie, who spent his entire working life with credit unions both on the state regulatory side, as well as with the Ohio Credit Union League, American Share Insurance and also as CEO of Salt River FCU in Arizona, died Dec. 30. He was 71. Neutzie became Superintendent of the Ohio Division of Credit Unions in the state Commerce Department during the first administration of former governor James Rhodes where he was responsible for ensuring the safety and soundness of the state's credit unions. After he left state service, Neutzie worked for the Ohio Credit Union League as vice president of special projects. In 1985 he was named chief financial officer for Salt River FCU. He returned to Ohio later to work for American Share Insurance. Funeral services for Neutzie were held Jan. 4
