ANN ARBOR, Mich. - MidWest Financial Credit Union and UMHS Financial have donated $1,270 to the Michigan Credit Union Foundation. Funds collected by the Michigan Credit Union Foundation from credit unions statewide will be split between the American Red Cross for humanitarian aid and the World Council of Credit Unions for credit union rebuilding in the hurricane-devastated areas. "Fundraising efforts like this are part of credit unions' fundamental philosophy of people helping people," said MidWest Financial President/CEO Larry Knoll. "Through the generosity of our members and our staff, we are able to make a difference and help those whose lives have been impacted by the hurricanes." Fundraiser efforts ranged from member donations, a bake sale, a jewelry sale, and monthly Jeans For Charity events.
