CEFCU Offers HSAs

PEORIA, Ill. - CEFCU has kicked off the new year by offering its members Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). The CEFCU HSA will offer members a separate account, statement, checks, and a dedicated ATM card. "With soaring health care costs, this is a great way for individuals to prepare for out of pocket health care expenses. The Health Savings Account will give consumers more control over their health care funds," said CEFCU Cash Management Vice President Pete Jain. HSAs are tax-free savings accounts that can be used to pay for medical expenses including prescription and over the counter drugs incurred by individuals, spouses or dependents. Unused HSA money rolls over from year to year and can then be used to pay for medical care up to the plan's deductible. With studies suggesting that by 2010 HSAs will account for more than 10% of insured lives opportunity is knocking for financial institutions to grab their share of consumers early.
