DALLAS - Some sort of technical or computer problem has forced the $1.1 billion OmniAmerican CU to close some of its 16 branches and shut down its ATMs, according to press reports. The problem began late July 28 or early July 29 according to press reports. Calls to a CU spokesman seeking explanation and comment have gone unanswered and calls to the credit union's call center are met with busy signals. The credit union, with the $1.4 billion Community CU, also in Dallas, is in the midst of an attempt to convert its charter to that of a mutual bank.
