GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Paul Denning, who has worked at Western Rockies FCU since 1985, the last nine of which have been as president/CEO, announced his plans to retire June 30. Denning began his credit union career in 1985 as VP of what was then called Mesa County Teachers FCU. He was promoted to his current president/CEO spot in January 1996. When Denning began working at the credit union it had 5,146 members and $14 million in assets. The CU now has over 12,000 members, $71 million in assets and three branch locations. During his tenure with Western Rockies FCU, Denning also served for 13 years on the board of the Colorado Credit Union League and on numerous committees often as chairman. Denning says he's looking forward to retirement living. High on his list of priorities, he says, are fishing, playing golf, traveling, getting back to oil painting and "simply enjoying life."
