Members Win Out in Card Sweepstakes

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - William and Sherry Pousson, members of the $75 million LA DOTD Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, were the two grand prize winners in Certegy Card Services "A Million and More ScorecCard Bonus Point Giveaway," the card processing firm and credit union announced. The grand prize winners won 1,000,001 bonus points, along with almost 4,000 additional bonus points to match the points they earned during the October through December program. In addition to the grand prize winner, the program also had five first prize winners who won 100,001 bonus points each, 50 runner up award winners who won 10,001 points each and 100 Thank You award winners who won 5,001 points each. LA DOTD did not reveal what the prize winners planned to do with their winnings, but the $161 million American 1 FCU, headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, had one of the 10,001 winners who said he planned to add his winnings to those already saved up for a family vacation to Disney World in June. The individual credit unions were not the only winners. Overall, Certegy reported that transactions during the three-month campaign for participating institutions increased 13.18% over the previous year. Total purchases were $1.32 billion, and issuers earned incremental interchange of approximately $2.4 million and total interchange of approximately $20.9 million. "The results of the `A Million and More' program were outstanding," stated Robert Bream, executive vice president and group executive of Certegy Card Services. "Promotions such as this can significantly enhance the performance of our clients' card programs by adding more of the transaction-driving features of the ScoreCard Rewards program."
