HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Redstone Federal Credit Union has earned the distinction of being the state's top SBA lender, less than two years after it began offering such loans. The $1.7 billion credit union became an SBA lender in late 2003 and closed its first loan in June 2004. To date, more than 14 loans have been closed. "We are very excited to be recognized by the Alabama SBA District Office," said Jack Wright, assistant vice president, business lending at Redstone FCU. "Small businesses are very important to the economy here in Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley". Redstone FCU, which is the largest in Alabama serving more than 250,000 members, is also the first credit union in the state to offer SBA loans, according to the credit union.
