Twenty-four CULAC Trustees Selected for Two-Year Terms

WASHINGTON-The executive committee of CUNA's political action committee has confirmed 24 trustees to the Credit Union Legislative Action Council for two-year terms. CUNA Vice President for Political Affairs Richard Gose explained that CULAC has trustees from every state, which are nominated by the state leagues based on their political activity. Trustees serve staggered two-year terms. "The best way to put it is they're ambassadors to CULAC in their state," he said. "They help raise money. They educate various chapters of credit unions on what CULAC does for the credit union movement. They also, some of them, are elected to our executive committee where a lot of the more day-to-day decisions are made." The six-member executive committee performs tasks like going over advisory opinions with the Federal Election Commission or changes to CULAC's bylaws. The trustees will be meeting during CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference next month. "Also, the trustees vote, particularly at this meeting, on any new major fund raising programs that they're going to be involved with," Gose said.
