I want to thank Mike Welch for his timely comments about CU CEO compensation in the Sept. 29 issue, "New Breed of CU CEOs Have Come on the Scene." I am in the middle of trying to determine what is adequate and reasonable compensation for our CEO. Welch's thoughts have given me courage to press on for what I think is right for us and our CEO. The CEO's perception of whatever action we take is the difficult part of the equation for me. We don't intend to send a message that we are unhappy, but may do so just out of fear or ignorance about higher levels of compensation needed to retain the best CEO for us. Thanks again for your encouraging words. Jerry Christian Director Credit Union of Texas Dallas, Texas
