Energy First CU Cleaning Up Environment-One Highway at a Time

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - Energy First Credit Union, in keeping with its "green" awareness philosophy, has recently adopted a two-mile stretch of the Long Beach (710) Freeway. This marks the second highway adopted by Energy First CU - in March the $399 million credit union adopted a two mile stretch of the Pomona (60) Freeway from Wilcox Avenue to Paramount Boulevard. Adopt-A-Highway signs featuring the Energy First CU logo are posted on both sides of each freeway and as part of the arrangement, the credit union has contracted with an outside company, the Adopt-A-Highway Maintenance Corporation to ensure the freeway shoulders are cleared of debris at least twice a month in addition to special occurrence cleanings, which include storms, excessive debris from trucks, freight transports, and other unexpected events. According to the credit union the project will help build awareness of Energy First CU in the community and remind members that their credit union not only provides quality financial services, but also cares about the environment in which it operates. -mdigiovanni@cutimes.com
