Charlotte Metro CU Making a Difference With Checking Promotion
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Rather than give away freebies to increase its checking accounts, Charlotte-Metro Credit Union is appealing to members' altruistic side. For every new checking account opened through the end of this year CMCU will donate $10.00 to the Victory Junction Camp. Victory Junction Camp is part of Paul Newman's "Hole-in-the-Wall" camps for seriously ill children. Scheduled to open in 2004, the camp is sponsored and run by NASCAR's "first family" the Pettys in memory of Adam Petty. The North Carolina Credit Union League has also pledged to raise money for the facility, which will enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening diseases by creating camping experiences that are fun, empowering, physically safe, medically sound- and free of charge. Located on 62 acres, the camp will benefit some 235,000 local children. The "Do You Want to Make Toast, or Make a Difference" campaign has recently kicked off and is comprised of billboards, direct mail, newspaper and radio spots. CMCU has pledged to raise $10,000 for Victory Junction over the next three years.
