*Continuing to vigorously defend the tax-exempt status of all credit unions. *Continuing to aggressively pursue regulatory and legislative efforts to enhance the federal charter. *Continuing to meet the challenges of the current interest rate environment, while preparing for the challenges that will have a direct impact on the balance sheet as interest rates turn around. *Working to extend the FCRA preemptions due to expire. *Formulating a workable solution to managing credit unions' unprecedented growth with regard to prompt corrective action while balancing the need of some credit unions for additional capital and preserving the not-for-profit, mutual, member-owned and cooperative structure of credit unions. *Pressing for passage of the bankruptcy reform bill that includes the Chapter 7 means test, financial education and a workable reaffirmation process. *Expanding lending opportunities for credit unions through member business loans backed by the Small Business Administration and the secondary mortgage market. *Articulating how credit unions are serving their communities, continuing to implement financial literacy and savings programs, fostering outreach to underserved areas and making the general public aware of credit unions. *Continuing to enhance credit union volunteer, paid employee, and member involvement in the political process. *Supporting statutory changes to enhance savings and retirement programs.
