MADISON, Wis. - With check-fraud losses estimated at $12 billion to $16 billion annually nationwide, the CUNA Mutual Group has developed an interactive check-fraud training kit for its credit union Bond policyholders. Designed for front-line staff, the kit incorporates an interactive CD-ROM, facilitator guide, learner workbook and a direct link to a specialized CUNA Mutual Web page devoted to check-fraud education, to increase awareness about check fraud. "Incidents of check fraud and resulting losses at credit unions continue to increase," said Jim O'Dell, process owner, Credit Union Protection Risk Management. "Front-line employees are the first line of defense against check fraud. Credit unions can help prevent these crimes by educating their staff about the growing prevalence of check fraud and training employees to spot obvious signs of such behavior," Training kits are available free to all CUNA Mutual Bond Policyholders. For more information regarding the kit call (800) 637-2676.
