WASHINGTON-The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced the appointment of Barry Kolatch to Deputy Comptroller for Economic Research and Policy Development. Kolatch is scheduled to begin at OCC September 23 and will be responsible for economic and policy analysis and research on the performance of national banks. "Economic analysis plays a vital role in our supervision of national banks," Senior Deputy Comptroller for International and Economic Affairs Jonathan L. Fiechter remarked. "We are very fortunate to have Barry's broad experience to apply to economic research and policy development here at the OCC." Kolatch has served as the deputy director of the division of research and statistics at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He was also the senior advisor to the FDIC chairman. Additionally, he served at the Resolution Trust Corporation where he was vice president for planning, research and statistics. Prior to his government service, he was a principal of Golembe Associates, Inc. Kolatch earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Yale University and his bachelor's degree in economics from Columbia University.
