ONTARIO, CA - ATM and Debit News' annual survey of EFT volume has dropped CO-OP Network from fourth to fifth nationwide, even as the Network's transaction volume rose 24.6% for the year. According to the publication, CO-OP's monthly switch transactions totaled more than 48 million this March, compared with more than 38.5 million in March 2001. The switch transactions for all EFT networks totaled 992.3 million, compared with 860.2 million last year, which might explain the drop in rankings. The network ranks No. 8 in number of ATMs online, with 11,472 - a 148.6% growth over the number of ATMs for 2001. CU 24 ranked No. 10 with 7,250 ATMs online. EFT networks overall have 352,000 ATMs online, an 8.6% increase over the 324,000 last year. They have a total of 3.5 million point-of-sale devices, the publication reported.
