WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The many troops stationed in Afghanistan since September 11 live in tents with limited shower facilities in a harsh and dusty environment. First Atlantic Federal Credit Union has partnered with the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services to bring a bit of comfort to those soldiers fighting in the name of freedom. AFES provides emergency communication to the troops to boost morale by providing much-needed canteen services and distributing quality of life items collected. Members have been dropping off donations at First Atlantic FCU branches including such items as snack foods, wet wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, batteries, blank greeting cards, videos, DVDs, music CDs and cassettes, playing cards, small board games and recent paperback books.
