9/11 keepsake commemorative coins available through New York State CU League

LATHAM, N.Y. - In commemoration of the victims and heroes of 9/11, the New York State Credit Union League on behalf of CUPAC has begun offering a trio of commemorative coins and a photo mint. According to the NYSCUL, coin distributor MPI Coin is donating a portion of the proceeds from the memorial coin sales to support 9/11 relief efforts. CUPAC is also contributing a portion to the New York Credit Union Foundation. The trio of coins include: * a World Trade Center Coin depicting a scene of the World Trade Center Towers with the Statute of Liberty in the foreground and the words "God Bless America" inscribed around the upper edge. The reverse of each round is inscribed with "Land of the Free" and "September 11, 2001" around the outside edge of the round. In the center are the words ".One Nation, Under God, Indivisible With Liberty and Justice For All" over an American flag. * "We Will Never Forget" is inscribed around the upper edge of the one year Memorial Coin that shows the flag around the World Trade Towers. The other side of the coin shows a policeman and fireman working at Ground Zero. * The third coin, "the Liberty Commemorative Coin" features Lady Liberty. The other side memorializes America's resolve at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Shanksville, Pa. The Photo Mint is a framed tribute to New York and features a picture of the New York skyline, pre-September 11, from across the river. It includes two uncirculated 24-karat gold-plated NYS quarters, one each from the Philadelphia and Denver mint. Each coin weighs one Troy ounce of .999 fine silver and comes in a clear protective airtight case that features a velvet gift box with a 3-D silver eagle seal on top. A certificate of authenticity is included. The coins and Photo Mint can be viewed on the New York State Credit Union League's Web site, www.nyscul.org. Coins can be ordered by contacting Karen Knapik at the league at (800) 342-9835, ext. 8241, or by email at kknapik@nyscul.org. -
